Did anyone see this coming? Zenimax Online Studio’s Elder Scrolls Online has not only been announced for the PlayStation 4, but the folks at Sony have struck a deal with ZOS giving the PS4 first BETA privileges. Console MMOs felt like a distant dream, but with the PS4 it will be our reality. It seems like a good fit doesn’t it? Being an action-based MMO, without cluttered UI and an overabundance of skill bars, ESO will more than likely translate well to consoles. At least, better than any MMO currently on the market.
What do we think? There are so many schools of thought that goes into something like this. I for one play my Elder Scrolls games exclusively with a controller, so the thought of kicking back and playing ESO on my couch sounds delightful. On the down side, how the hell am I going to communicate to other players without my handy-dandy keyboard? Will the PS4 players just be silent husks in guild chat? My mind is melting just thinking about this, so I’ll sit down with Kyle shortly to record a special episode of ESO Weekly just covering this. Keep an eye out for it tomorrow!
Please, share your thoughts with us in the comments and we’ll feature them in a special edition of ESO Weekly!
*Update* Bethesda’s Pete Hines took to Twitter (via OXM) to confirm that The Elder Scrolls Online is also coming to Xbox One in Spring 2014.
